Speaker Presentation:
“Why are renewables a threat to sustainability. And why they're not”
In Germany, widespread wind and solar electricity following the "Energiewende" policies has led to an increase of generation from coal power plants. In his presentation, Thomas Guibentif will introduce this and other situations when renewable energy deployment has backfired. With a "back to basics" on sustainability he will provide a framework to assess the limits, but also the opportunities, of renewable energies if we are to transition to a sustainable society.
