MN Renewable Energy Society seeking "Virtual" Site Assessor
The Minnesota Renewable Energy Society is now hiring a "Virtual" Site Assessor for Solar Hot Water and Solar Air Heat to complete remote assessments of people properties based on viewing the property through online sources and a form filled out by the customer indicating number of household members and their ages, utility companies (or propane), willingness to remove trees etc. The assessors input developing this program will also be important.
The report to the customer will consist of:
- Their solar potential (site and usage) for both technologies
- Rebate eligibility and status for both technologies
- Estimated cost of systems (Price for a two panel system will be set by program)
This job will be part time, based on demand, can be done from home and will pay $10-$15 an assessment. We do expect quick turnarounds on all assessments.

MN Renewable Energy Society seeking Solar Site Assessor for SE Minnesota.
The Minnesota Renewable Energy Society is seeking a solar hot water/solar air heat site assessor to contract on a temporary basis in the SE region of Minnesota, see map below for specific region.
• Analyze energy use to suggest conservation strategies
• Measure the solar resource at several locations to determine the best site for solar
• Estimate of the energy (therms) that the solar hot water system or the solar air heating system will produce
• Written report on the outcome of the site assessment, which includes the information outlined above
• Determine future shading by documenting the size and species of trees in the solar window
MRES will provide the template for the site assessment report. The Site Assessor will need to have ready access to a solar pathfinder or equivalent, digital camera, computer, high-speed internet access, tree guides and provide their own General Liability Insurance.
We are seeking an individual that has good communication skills with a professional, friendly demeanor and excellent time management. Knowledge of solar is a must, energy efficiency measures, basic roof structure and home construction knowledge is preferable. Experience in the field and certification is preferable.
Individual must also be flexible to help us develop this program, work with our volunteer Make Mine Solar committee and installers.
