Directions to Hunt Utilities Group Campus: From Highway 371 turn west on County Road 2 on the north edge of Pine River and take a right at the wind turbine.
The Cob-Cabin was an early, very experimental design and construction project of Happy
Dancing Turtle. One goal was to have zero sewer effluent, so it has a composting toilet and
an experimental plant bed system to filter the black water. The cabin is currently used as a
live-in test lab and a private residence.
• 440 sq ft of hot water solar panels are used to heat the cottage
• 288 sq ft of passive solar in the greenhouse
• Straw bale and cob construction, including cob floor.
• Foam roof has an R value of 60. Bale walls have an net R value of 50
• Windows are thermo pane low E argon.
• Backup electric heat.
