The Kopitske Residence is located in Woodbury just south of the new Woodbury Lakes shopping center.  Backing up to wetlands on a south exposure walk out lot, this residential setting is ideal for the installed pole mounted solar tracking PV system, which produces about 35% more power than fixed mounting would provide.

The rooftop holds six Bubbling Springs solar hot water panels, which can deliver heated water through a manifold system to a furnace plenum water A-Coil, a Domestic Hot Water system, a 550 gallon storage tank, a heat pump source tank, a heat pump load tank, or a pool heater.   The heat pump can air condition the home through the water A-coil and dump the collected heat to the pool.

System Cost, Payback, and Financial Incentives Utilized

$15,800 for PV system; $8,640 Dept of Commerce Rebate and $2,000 Federal Income Tax rebate; 5-year payback ($1,000 per year). $6,000 for solar pool heater system; $2,000 tax rebate; payback to be determined.

Anticipated Energy Delivery When Purchased

Solar Electric: 4.32 kW systemx4.3 kWh/kW-day = 18.576 kWh/day (average). Solar Water Heating: 6 panelsx30,000 BTU/panel-day = 180,000 BTU/day.

Actual Energy Delivered When Installed

Solar Electric: 4.32 kW systemx4.7454 kWh/kW-day = 20.5 kWh/day. Solar Water Heating: Currently just heating a pool, so difficult to measure.
