Lindstrom-Kaufman Home![]()
Site Description This is a conventional frame house, fortunate enough to be oriented with the long side facing south. Much of our south roof and walls are covered with collectors of different types and ages. The first system was installed in 2004. Our home produces 3 types of solar energy: 1) Roof mounted solar hot water 2) Roof mounted solar electric, 1.92 KW, grid tied 3) Wall mounted solar air heat collectors (for space heating). System Components Electric: 16 Kyocera 120 watt modules/Fronius IG 2000 inverter Hot Water: 2 - 3' X 6' AAA Solar collectors, drainback system Heat: (Newest collector) RREAL's SPF40 Solar Powered Furnace Hot water system: Drain back system. Preheats the water going into the electric water heater There are 3 hot air collectors: one home made, one rebuilt, and one brand new Solar Powered Furnace (SPF) locally manufactured in Pine River. System Designer: Joel Lindstrom, owner System Installer: Joel Lindstrom and RREAL (Rural Renewable Energy Alliance) Date of Installation Completion: June 5, 2004 for Electric and Hot Water April 2010 for SPF Anticipated Energy Delivery When Purchased 1964 KWH per year (calculated on 12-23-06) Actual Energy Delivered When Installed Actual Energy Delivered: 2144 KWH per year average 2005 2099 KWH 2006 2163 2007 2127 2008 2224 2009 2106 10,719 KWH / 5 = 2144 average KWH/yr. Percentage of Total Energy Needs Delivered: 50% of electric only. 2009: produced 2106 KWH, consumed 4230 KWH (Data system not available to calculate energy delivery for hot water or heat, will know fuel savings for new SPF in a year.) |
