Designed by HUG and Architects Oldham Hirst Design of Brainerd, the manifesting buildingis an inventor's prototyping shop where ideas meet the real world. It also hosts somemanufacturing, offices and a greenhouse.



System Components
solar heat

• 76 hot air solar furnace panels manufactured on-site by RREAL
• 10 miles of air exchange pipe to transfer heat to the earth under the building


Additional Measures

• R100 cellulose insulation in the ceiling; R 50 SIP panels in the walls; and a living
roof.
• Attached solar green house for future food growing and heat capture

• Ground water heat pump for backup heating.

Anticipated Energy Delivery When Purchased

• 14,000 sq ft building (includes a 3000 sq ft greenhouse), the heating costs from 4/08-4/
09 averaged $75 a month (a very cold winter, and most of the solar equipment was not
yet working )
