2009 Minnesota Solar Tour
www.MNSolarTour.org
Saturday, October 3, 2009
10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Sponsored by the Minnesota Renewable Energy
Society (MRES), the self-guided, public Minnesota Solar Tour features
50+ exemplary homes, businesses, and institutions that have incorporated
renewable energy into the design and operation of their buildings.
From geothermal heat pumps using the earth as a huge thermal buffer
to wind turbines elegantly spinning in the breeze and the many incarnations
of solar energy between earth and sky, this event offers local residents
an opportunity to find out how their neighbors are trimming their
energy bills, increasing their energy independence, and taking steps
to address global warming. This is an excellent opportunity for
those interested in solar and other renewable energies to view installations
and talk with building owners, builders, architects, and planners
about their experiences.
We invite you to join us on the next Minnesota
Solar Tour! See renewable energy technology in action, and meet
people who have learned from experience.
Get Involved!
Put Your Site on the Tour
If you have installed a solar electric, solar
hot water, passive or active solar hot air, ground-source heat,
and/or wind energy system at your home or business, we invite you
to apply to be a site on the 2009 Minnesota Solar Tour. Check back
here in Summer 2009 to learn how you can show visitors your renewable
energy technology in action, and share your expertise! If you have
questions before then, please submit a Contact
Us form.
Take the Tour
Check back here in September 2009 for a list
of 2009 Minnesota Solar Tour sites. You may also view sites from
the 2006, 2007,
and 2008 Minnesota Solar Tours.
Volunteer as a Site Guide
With over 50 sites on the Minnesota Solar Tour,
we need volunteers to help
staff the sites in shifts from 9:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday,
October 3, 2009. We have many new and interesting sites on the tour
this year, and this is an excellent opportunity to understand a
site and help visitors learn more about real energy alternatives.
Training is provided on-site.
To volunteer to help with the 2009 Minnesota
Solar Tour, please indicate your time and location preferences by
submitting a Contact Us
form.
